Noir style cottage

BLACK & GRAY RAINBOW

A prominent example is the design project of a cottage in Noir style. The cottage is a vacation spot, and for many, relaxation means calm pastel colors or soft styles such as eco or Scandinavian. But at the heart of this cottage design are B&W shades, shiny metal surfaces, sharp corners, and sharp transitions. Seemingly, it can’t be called cozy, but it’s only at first sight.

“At first, we strained a little, if I may say so, after hearing the client’s wish that everything should be black… or mostly everything. She enjoyed describing how the sunlight would come in through the black curtains. The main requirement was black kitchen fronts,” says Natalia Shatokhina, the interior designer and owner of the NS Interior Design studio.

But what should be mentioned is that black is beyond time. It’s up to date and never goes out of style. With gray elements, it adds a touch of luxury and wealth to the interior of the cottage. And thanks to the correctly selected palette, gray acts as a relaxer.
Gray for this interior is the color of pearls and predawn fog. In fact, the combination of these two colors is a typical tandem. We managed to create both an elegant noir-style atmosphere (for the living room and dining area) and a luxurious one when it comes to the kitchen or bedroom.

“The three neutral colors are black, white and gray. So the kind of “gloomy” interior based on contrasts turned out to be, in fact, very neutral. And the main thing is that it brings joy to its owner. She has her own “black and gray rainbow” and it’s great that we have the opportunity to work on such non-standard projects and deal with such daring customers,” – says Natalia.
